i got home at 10 this morning. It took 33 hours door to door. Along the way I eyed the man across the aisle. When our eyes met there was a sort of spark. I wondered about attraction and what is attractive. I also could not stop side-eye-ing my seatmate who kept coughing without covering his mouth. I weighed the pros and cons of asking him to cough into his elbow instead (pro: Public Health Service!; con: 17 hours of awkwardness).

I chatted with the Somali cab driver the whole way home - I love cab drivers here, they’re from everywhere and almost always interesting. We mostly bitched about Trump. When I got home, I had one of my closest friends there to open the door for me. What a gift. She’s living at my place for a while and looking for work. We hung out for a while and then I went into my bedroom, and there it was... that feeling of peace i'd anticipated from the sky on the other side of the planet. Home.

I left E at the kitchen table preparing for a job interview (!) and I walked to the library and got my library card. It felt so significant to pass *neighbours*. I was almost shy as I showed them the bill from my *home* to get this card.

Now I'm sitting in the sunshine at an old wooden table in the study room. There are a ton of high school kids and more than a few homeless people. I can't tell if the woman across from me is working out the dialogue to her novel or just straight up talking to herself. I think it's the latter. Regardless. I just saw that the security guard has a gun. WTF america. The point is, I live here.
