Getting kind of brisk here (0 degrees). Lots of handwringing over how cold it is but I'm still loving it. So fresh. I stream CBC from Ottawa and heard it's -20 today with the wind chill and I had to snicker.

i went on another (first) date at the dive bar near my house. Again, nice to sit and talk to someone new, but after two drinks, I came home and made myself an omelette and grilled cheese while i listened to a really great interview on CBC and did a crossword and now im listening to Gordon Lightfoot, "song for a winter's night", writing here while sipping boozy hot cider leftover from my party. I think it's obvious which of these two evening segments was the dreamiest.

On my way home I texted my friend J so I wouldn't call BT [a record 13 days, phew].. these dates are fine and maybe these guys have been out there longer than me because they're always eager to meet again. And I'll try. But the experience just makes me long for that magic spark of electricity with someone I actually want to talk to. I guess that's hard to find now. But does it come with familiarity or is it something chemical? Anyway, no answers from J but she showed me a wax replica statue of her face, made by an artist friend of a friend. This miraculous candle really made me feel better.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: i'm doing pretty good over here.
