i cut my hair and got it straightened, and i am a whole new girl. I mean it -my dad didn't recognize me.

i've never HAD straight hair before. I feel so sleek and non-cute, and it's such a good thing. It won't last long, though... I'm allergic to hair dryers.

I went into Toronto for drinks and dancing. Oh my god! mod britpop night! Who knew such fun existed? It all made me ask: why am i leaving this city again? The people-watching is fantastic.

Never mind. i'm sure it will be just as good in Saskatoon. Population 230 000. At least there will be lots of wheat. And no hills. My calves HATED halifax.

Toronto was good, although i'd forgotten about how you have to dress up when you live in this city. I never actually wore hospital pants to the bar in my old town, but i always knew I could, and that's what's important.

I could have used another week at home. It's been a long time since I've been able to hang out with my brother, drink coffee with my dad, and go for walks with my mom. It has been so nice.

But yesterday's greatest accomplishment was finishing the Toronto Star crossword all by myself. I was genuinely thrilled.. I almost called a friend to tell her. That's when I realized that I HAVE to get out of here before I start buying pleated pants.

So I'm packing. I leave for Winnepeg tomorrow.
