whew: my friend's new musical project is great! Happy that it will be a pleasure to do the requisite show-up-and-support. And so inspiring to see people up on stage being awesome.

whoa, is it just me or is everyone pregnant?* Today's announcement was a nice one, my 40-year-old friend who told me in October that she was still on birth control and had to decided to sail quietly into menopause (her words, not mine). Not sure what changed her mind, but I'm glad they could make it happen so fast. She was noticeably glowy. And not to make it all about me, but i definitely thought to myself, 'See? Look at that! Tons of time.' It's nice to be reminded that i can chill on that front for a while. Sometimes it feels like everyone is pregnant, or all these women my age are wandering around with their 8-year-olds. Kids are great, but actually having one still seems like a nice thing that other people do. #totallynotthereyet

But 2012 already feels like a year of unusual amounts of transitions. Talking to friends, i am struck by all the weddings, pregnancies, graduations, and moves in the cards. Even I, famous hater of change, feel that it's time to shake things up [Obama White House: i am not talking to you]. I'm just feeling a bit restless and ready for some new challenges. Most of the remaining pillars in my community will probably be gone by April. I could step it up with some new folks, but maybe i'll just take this chance to do a slow fade out from nola. It's not going anywhere, and i will always be able to visit. And i will visit. often.
