This morning, I packed up in mtl and did the border crossing thing one last time. Now I'm back home and the air is warm and smells like flowers. I tentatively booked a car for end of july to drive on out of here, and I gave my roommate my notice. Now just have to write some pages and pack up my entire house. no big deal, right? That's the big arc, but i am taking everything a day at a time.
The first thing I saw when I got to Atlanta was a lady pushing a wheelchair piled high with fancy wide-brimmed straw hats in open hat boxes. All kinds of colours, with flowers and curlicues... no one does hats like Southern ladies. I was feeling so nostalgic about the South, but then I got on the plane and listened to some conservative older dude mansplain the economy and politics to a younger woman for an hour. She's doing a masters in public policy and wants to manage non-profits and he works for big pharma and was such a condescending douche and I had to listen to ALL OF IT because they were loud and the flight from Atlanta to New Orleans is essentially an ascent and then a descent so earphones are not an option. It made me want to scream, and I was way less nostalgic about the South. #getmeoutofherebeforenovember
