mtl for a week, it went by in a blink. I lost two days to travel, one to sickness, and one to general malaise (today). I'll hold on to the smooth glide of my cross-country skis and my slow and steady breath as I made my way up to the chalet on Saturday afternoon. Later, exhilarated, downhill the whole way, as the sky slowly darkened to a deep grey-blue. I'm due for some downhill. I could barely keep up with BT, but still, was proud that I haven't fallen completely out of shape in the last few dissipated months in new orleans. It felt so unfamiliar to be connected to my body.

That night, a spontaneous apres-ski dinner with friends. We stopped to pick up supplies on our way home - into the grocery store and the liquor store in our ski boots - and then just quick stopped to change and jump on our bikes to get out for dinner and then out to a show later. The next morning, friends for brunch. This life is rich .

I have friends over for dinner tonight, my last night. Mince curry is on the stove. Beets are roasting to toss with spices and green chilies. I have a plan. Raita I made yesterday. I have bright leafy green broccoli rabe ready to steam. I'll make bhel puri to start. It's an indian feast I have planned for these favorite friends. This is how I'd rather spend my days. Today, I didn't do any of the things I was supposed to.
