Took a break and went to the community garden to drop off the compost and pull a few more small weeds. All the irises are finished and there is only one small bud on the rose bush. I think R is going to get all the broccoli and kale and the rest of the lettuce while I'm gone. Something has eaten away all the bush beans and maybe a pepper? Turns out I don't care much about the vegetables, all I want is more gorgeous flowers. Tending the garden makes me feel like i live here.

Preparing to leave for a month so I'm working through the freezer and the last of the winter/spring market share - Butternut squash and raw cashew soup with coconut milk. Lentils with swiss chard and sweet potato. Roasted asparagus, roasted beets. Lentil soup with kale and ginger. Orechiette with ricotta and tomato sauce. Banana and spelt muffins. Whole wheat and spelt flour muffins (at this last one, R coughed as the muffin got stuck in his throat and finally mentioned that perhaps I'd crossed a line to *too* healthy, so I made a trifle with market strawberries and mascarpone and whipped cream). E was staying here with her new husband and he mentioned ordering in lunch so they didn't eat all our food, and she said, *shhhhh, food is her love love language, let her cook for us*
