BT texted me a couple sundays ago to say they were opening up the AZ shots to 40+ in my region on Tuesday morning, and I got a bit obsessive and and was first in line to get my shot, Tuesday at 9am.

I got my shot in a pharmacy the next town over. The pharmacy is in this amazing plaza of all things muslim: the restaurant where my dad goes to get pakistani breakfasts on the weekend (deep fried kulcha, perfectly spiced chana, a rosewater sweet); a halal grocery; a clinic. There's a mosque across the street.  It was nice to be surrounded by brown people. I miss that.  

I was a bit emotional about getting the shot. Just thinking of all my colleagues and friends in other countries who are fucked, just waiting. I kind of sat around waiting for a clot to get me for a couple of days...  I had such minimal side effects. I felt like i was very hungover for a while, and god knows i know what to do for that.

There were many jokes last week about Gen X just en masse embracing AZ.  All these AZ shots were just sitting unused in pharmacies while boomers waited for their chance to get Pfizer/Moderna.  The moment they made the AZ available for 40+, all the appointments got booked.  Real line-up-all-night-for-concert-tickets-or-die energy.  

Thanks boomers, for vaccine shopping.  Meanwhile, who knows what will be left for Gen Z, or when, so that's all sort of tracking with how things are unfolding in this country.
