on Sunday the whole city was out watching football and SERIOUSLY into it. Several times I thought, "wow, women's World Cup has come so far!" before I realized it was Africa Nations Cup football and Madagascar was beating DRC.
They won and chaos ensued (happy party chaos, not crazy riot chas). But It's been a crazy week and I didn't understand why it was so intense until today when I realized that everyone was cramming 5 days of work into 4 because no one wants to come to meetings tomorrow because the quarterfinals are tonight. At 10pm... it's almost 8 and I can already hear the streets are just vibrating with energy.
Updating to say: I went to grab dinner and watch the game with a friend. Probably the whole country was watching the game, so of course just 1 minute before kickoff (is that the term? ugh), the power cuts out. GAH! Generators kicked on and we only missed the first five minutes but honestly it was so classic.
