Back in Canada. All is dreamy. The apartment is full of light and the balcony garden has outdone itself. While BT grills chicken and sausage, I make a salad with fresh lettuce and mint from two feet out the door. One salad for dinner, one for lunches tomorrow. I nerd out out with my new food processor ("cabbagemaggedon", BT jokes, because I possibly got a bit carried away). After dinner we go for a walk to my new workspace in some hipster space, formerly a primary school. The echoey space takes me back 25 years. The space is very DIY, not slick at all. It feels right. The artist in the space next to mine is working on an intricate drawing of tiny houses in coloured pencils. I briefly imagine a day-to-day life that is creative and can't quite get my head around it.
We drove 5 hours to Ontario last weekend for the annual camping trip with my extended family. My parents were there, my brother and his girlfriend. Bt and me. All the cousins, tons of kids. We tried to body surf the crazy waves in the lake and buried ourselves in the white sand. My sister is in town from out West. She picked her wedding dress. I have this DC move ticking away in the background like a time bomb.
