one of the more badass bike rides I've done...45 minutes there, but through the slush, dodging chunks of ice, and a steady headwind most of the way. But it felt good. It's only -7, and there was just a light dusting of snow, steadily falling. From time to time I passed another biker and had a secret thrill to be part of the club that didn't retire our bikes. It was beautiful. I was so happy to be outside and moving fast and not at my desk.

The way home was challenging. The snow was coming down harder and the temperature had dropped. I debated taking the metro back home, but decided to be tough. I have a sort of new year's resolution to not be a suck about cold. It took me almost an hour because it was rush hour and my legs started getting wobbly from the steady climb in the cooler temperatures. I got sick of trying to dodge the black ice hidden under the slush along the sides, so I just took the lane and I swear people were trying to kill me so that they could get home faster.

When I bike I always have all these great ideas for bike safety... My best one is a paint gun attached to your bike so you can tag all the cars that almost hit you with bright red paint. I also have a Samuel L. Jackson-type voice yelling, "SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!". One of these days i'm going to put a go pro on my helmet and then I'm going to report all these people and in my fantasy world they all get gigantic fines and then they see the light and slow the fuck down.
