stoop beers, but i was early. I walked there, wondering if i was being optimistic about my own safety. It's probably fine, but 2 people were beaten with lead pipes by a gang of pre-teens on two separate evenings not 3 weeks ago, not much later than I was walking. And yet, what can one do? This part of the city has changed so much, I have a hard time gauging what is real risk. In first few years I lived here, I never would have biked through here at night alone, or even with less than 3 people, let alone walked. But now people live here. Gentrification, etc., i'm not getting into it here because it's my diary and i don't have to.

Anyway, I made it. I sat on the stoop and cracked a beer while I waited for my friends to get home from whatever pop up they were at. I remembered my coozie for once, so my beer stayed nice and cold. High life. i'm cutting back cause i just bought a plane ticket to Mtl. Tucked way back in the shadows of a tree, I watched the world go by in cars and trucks, on skateboards and bikes. A woman crooning to a baby. October evening and it was hot enough that everyone was out. Later my friend said that part of her misses running supper clubs, but she was running one in NYC with her friends 15 years ago and now she's heard of at least 3 in the city and it's not fun anymore.
