Got a bit rerouted as i was packing up this morning to go to work... and two hours later i have made mango lassis for breakfast, green smoothie for later, bills are paid, I have a kale salad sitting in the fridge for dinner, and my room is clean and organized. Work... well, work is still sitting there waiting for me. I sit on my bed, steeling myself for the windowless bunker. It is is spring, and the curtains are fluttering orange and blue in the breeze. It is is calm and quiet and still, and i just want to lie here and nap and sip ginger tea and think flittering thoughts all day. Who am i and where am i going and what does it all mean?

last night: long bike ride along the river and through a park, past the lit-up fountain. I was in front, and at some point, i heard a grunt and a thud behind me and saw three figures clumped together - BT and two dudes, just shadows in the darkness, and I thought, "oh. here it is. he's being held up. what do i do" and my heart rate sped up and everything got very slow for a moment. But it was just two dudes unsuccessfully doubling on a bike and falling over as they tried to get up over a curb. I realized that my subconscious is always waiting for something bad to happen when I'm out in in this city after dark. Probably because the last time I biked through that neighbourhood, I later read in the paper that a dude was shot in his car about 20 minutes after we went through.

Later, after pizza, home through the French Quarter, gas lamps flickering. And that is part of why we still live here.
