i had a somewhat epic 72 hours in which I spent a day zipping around Mumbai with my friends from when I lived there in 2003-5, and then took an overnight flight to Addis Ababa, where I had a twelve hour connection and spent the day with my friends from when i lived there, AND THEN I took an overnight flight home. In time for mardi gras revelry.

I pulled up in front of my house in a cab and was met with hugs and a costume, and then we were off on our bikes to a parade, where we danced down the street. Strangers poured wine into our mouths. Brass bands. I waved a parasol.

In facebook pictures, I am wine-covered and dazed, but it didn't matter because I was living a 72 hour compression of all the people who formed me over the last decade. Three cities on three continents.

I don't always good about my choices,but there are moments when I feel incredibly lucky. I know good people and i can't even believe how fun it has been.

(but also. Remember that time I had a lot of fun and then I had to work all the time to catch up? Egggggggggghhhhhh 9pm at work and no end in sight. Also, no dissertation in sight. And also, my stomach hurts. See previous paragraph about not always feeling good about my choices. I'm not quite complaining. Just..thinking about complaining.)
