Snippets of today:

I am working in a cafe that I recently described to a friend as "douche-y". At the time I couldn't think of why i used that word, but I knew i was right, and my friend agreed. But we both come here all the time to work because there are tons of outlets and the coffee is good. But they were playing "careless whispers" when i walked in, so I rest my case.

(update: wow, the next song was Elton John. If they play Michael Bolton or Sade, I win a pedicure from myself)

I've been thinking a lot about people I used to read on diaryland (i.e. last time I was in heartbreak mode). I've often thought about one woman who disappeared, as people do. But I've always wondered what happened to her because she was such a light, open, and questing spirit. And it always seemed strange to me that she would just stop writing without even the usual goodbye note.

She once sent me tim tams from Australia. I finally went looking for her email address today to just send her a note to say hello and that I was thinking of her.. and in the process of searching for it I found her full name and googled her and found out that she died almost three years ago, a month after her last entry, at 27. Don't know what happened, and it doesn't really matter. But I've been thinking about her all day with sadness. She didn't get to finish her story.
