I get through the day by ingesting copious amounts of coffee and frequently applying monkey balm to my temples.
i focus on the small things: fresh grapefruit from the neighbourhood, satsumas that escaped last week's chill, an enormous live oak with a giant branch that winds across the street, over a fence, and into someone's yard, covered in spanish moss and ivy. Flipflops and sunshine in mid-January.
At the back of my head weighs this coming exam (i don't know enough) and the prospect of at least 3 months in Africa (can we make it through this? i want to. do you?)
