i spoke to a friend about what she loves in her partner, and it turned out to be layers. My friend described the experience of learning about her lover as akin to peeling an onion. Not sexually, but mentally - with each passing month, she peels away layers of psychic complexity (perhaps sexually also? we didn't go into it).
she's constantly learning new things, understanding motivations, unexpected perceptions, unimagined depths. my friend confided that she imagines that she'll still be peeling away, years from now, and that's why she's in love.
