it all makes sense now. This place is surreal.

the first night I found myself in some kind of tent restaurant where the waiter handed me a joint with my menu, and it kind of spiralled out of control there... I called my family today and I was surprised my parents weren't home. I asked my brother, "what?? They don't have lives. Where are they on a Tuesday night?"

And he was like, "Lise: it's Saturday."

Funny... he's not so impressed that i'm calling him a hippie. What's PC for "hippie?"

but I AM STUDYING. I am surrounded by people searching for the Inner Peace, and I'm on the net researching grad schools. People keep trying to engage me in conversations about how my conflict reflects the East-West dichotomy, and i'm all "fuck off, i'm learning about circles," because i am just. not. there.

I feel a bit bad about that... like I might go home and regret it and then start doing tai-chi and lstening to new age.

doubt it.

But i did start reading the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, and so far I haven't thrown it away and gone to buy a Coke, so i'm not out of the woods... the Inner Peace might get me yet.
