I'm such a geek. I've had 12-hour work days for the last week, just completely absorbed in identifying the issues affecting newborn health in our slum. I spent today at an international conference on maternal and neonatal health in urban slums, and then went to dinner where there were a whole lot of doctors and public health people talking about.. what else... newborn health. And anyone else would have been bored to death, but honestly I had this flash of being so thrilled to be in that room because there was just so much energy and passion.

last week i got a SUITCASE SIZED care package from my family via marty. So right now i have a precious, precious plate of wheat thins and gouda cheese, and i am eating each cheese-and-cracker pair soooooo slowly, savouring every mouthful. salty crunchy cheese goodness.
