It is so hot here! When it's 40 degrees outside, I usually spend at least one afternoon sitting on a patio in the Market in Ottawa. Thus I have this craving for Strongbow that Will Not Go Away.

I almost poured beer into apple juice last night, but settled for a shandy at the last minute. I wonder if there's an Irish pub with strongbow somewhere in Bombay? I bet there is... We found an Irish Pub in Guyana for St. Patrick's Day in 2000, and that's a country of 800 000. This is a city of 15 million. I will persevere.

People aren't allowed to spit in our hospital, so they compromise by hawking out the window.

I went shopping yesterday and I was carrying a whole lot of stuff. So I told the cashier that I wouldn't need a bag because I would just throw my shirt in with something else. But then I remembered that i need garbage bags, so I told her I need one after all.

She smiled complacently and said, "I knew you would change your mind when you saw our bags. Aren't they beautiful?"

I looked at the bags... I saw a blue plastic bag.

She saw a beautiful plastic bag.

And that is why i like living here. Because the things I find ordinary are special to others. My coworkers kids went crazy over cup-a-soup last week. There needs to be more of that in this world.
