oh the silver bazaar did not disappoint...spice market and then turn a corner and fruit market and then twisting down narrow alleys and you realize that what you thought was chaos was actually very orderly because suddenly you're in Chor Bazaar -Thieves' Market.
This sounds even better than Silver Bazaar, even though the reality is not at all romantic... i know that most of the gold and silver and antiques i saw probably were stolen, which is the reason that everyone (except for me, inexplicably) has iron bars on their windows and doors.
Same way that the romantic notion of pirates was probably not so romantic if your ship actually got pulled over.
That sentence just begs to be finished with: "...on the high seas" but i shall resist.

And after the Chor Bazaar, I found my way to meet some friends in Colaba and we went down a sidestreet, into a nondescript entrance, and then up up up and we emerged onto a terrace overlooking the sea and bombay's surprisingly gorgeous skyline (lights and mosques and temples).
Full moon, clear skies, and a soft breeze. We reclined into the softest cushions ever and were presented with individual brass hookahs. Velvet tube-things and glowing coals and fragrant strawberry smoke.
Arabian nights, indeed.
